After the refined progressive of 'Souls Of Ambience', change of atmosphere with the muscular hard rock of the Germans of 'The New Roses' who release their 6th studio recording 'Attracted To Danger', after the very good 'Sweet Poison' dating from 2022. Rereading my last review, I tell myself that I could use the same superlatives for this new baby of the Germans which is still full of addictive melodies that get you in shape for a whole day. It's simple, out of 10 compositions, it's still 10 hard rock gems that are very muscular and that all give you the irresistible urge to headbang until your head comes off!! Right from the start, the first compositions put you in the mood with an explosive 'When You Fall In Love' (see the video above) followed by a 'Natural Born Vagabonds' which, even if the tempo is more moderate, has a unifying chorus to sing along to. It continues with the eponymous title and first single released which has nothing to envy its predecessors and 'Four Wheels', which follows, is still a very punchy hard rock scorcher. No break with 'Bring The Thunder' which continues in the same vein and 'This Heart' offers us a chorus to scream with 'Timmy Rough'. After all this positive energy, 'Hold Me Up' comes at the right time to give us a rest to our neck muscles that have been put to the test and it is a magnificent power ballad in which the singer 'Gill Montgomery' ('The Hot Damn!') is invited and forms a very beautiful vocal duet with 'Timmy Rough' (see the video here). The rest of the album is made in the same vein as the first part with new addictive melodies and with, among others, the cover of 'Rockin' In The Free World' by 'Neil Young'. In short, no need for a long review to tell you that the Germans of 'The New Roses' offer us yet another hard rock album fueled by dynamite with compositions that are each addictive melodic hymns... | |
