'Unreal City Prog Band' is an Italian progressive rock band that has just released its 3rd studio album 'Frammenti notturni'. 'Emanuele Tasconi', who is the composer of the group, is influenced by the major prog formations of the 70s but also draws his inspiration from the Italian musical culture. With the first title, 'La grande festa in Mashera', of more than 13 minutes, we are immersed in a multi-faceted construction where we go from an introduction close to 'ELP' with breaks in rhythms to a piano part in the style of 'Satie' introducing a quiet and very transalpine sung part which gains momentum with the entrance of the electric instruments and which unfolds its melancholic melody until the final break that brings us back to an 'ELP' atmosphere with ubiquitous keyboards and multiple arrangements. The other compositions are quite similar and make us travel in environments where keyboards are the common thread and where the classic Italian romantic aspect is frequently present. In summary, with this 'Frammenti notturni', the Italians of 'Unreal City Prog Band' continue to offer quality compositions in a classic progressive style but, because of their long durations, may be limited to a warned audience without being able to reach a wider audience, and that's a shame...
