The band 'Cats In Space' had delighted us with 'Scarecrow' in 2017 and 'Day Trip to Narnia' in 2019 and, after a change of singer since 'Damien Edwards' replaces 'Paul Manzi' who left in another super group 'Sweet', 2020 sees the release of a new studio recording 'Atlantis' which fits in the continuity of the previous opus with a new journey in time taking us back to the 70s. Given the current period when the vaccine is expected like the messiah and the ambient gloom is increasing day by day, the latter baby of 'Cats In Space' could use this French slogan precisely of the 70s which said for a certain chocolate bar : "a blow of bar, Mars, and it starts again" because it contains melodies unstoppable and catchy which do good and which gives an irresistible desire to move and push back on the play button at the end of each title. So no need to write a long review and if you are insensitive to the rhythmic and energetic melodies of 'Spaceship Superstar', 'Revolution' or even 'Queen Of The Neverland', then try quieter tracks like 'Sunday Best', 'I Fell Out Of Love With Rock N Roll' or even 'Can't Wait Till Tomorrow' and listening to all these songs, we find ourselves in countries known to those who bathed in rock from the 60s/70s and, in loose, names come to us like 'Survivor', 'Uriah Heep', 'The Who', 'Electric Light Orchestra', the 'Beatles', 'Supertramp', the 'Bee Gees' and of course 'Queen', all of that being performed by an ensemble of talented artists, whether instrumentally or vocally manner, the choirs being particularly effective in taking us straight back to that golden era of rock (listen to those enjoyable yee, yee, yee from the end of 'I Fell Out Of Love With Rock N Roll' for example). In short, our space cats are back with another album filled with compositions that have a good flavor of the 70s and which are a real moment of escape in this anxiety-provoking period. If you are like me, these titles instinctively triggered this little smile of happiness on many occasions and 'Atlantis' is still an antidepressant to be consumed without moderation and intended for the general public...
