After 'Holophinium' in 2016, 'Oliver Rüsing' with his band 'Karibow' returns with a new concept album in 2017 'From Here to the Impossible' describing the different stages of a man's life. About the style, we are fully in a progressive rock influenced by artists like 'Marillion' or 'Saga'. For this new opus, in addition to the usual line up, Oliver has called on different guests like 'Jim Gilmour' of 'Saga'. What strikes at fist is the dynamic of 'Here' with an introduction where the battery takes a preponderant place in a jerky rhythmic which makes it an original title. With 'My Time of Your Life', it's more a classic song with a chorus that immediately enter your head just as some titles of 'Saga'. The sequel takes us on a sought-after progressive rock, while maintaining a certain melodic structure with sumptuous guitar solos and where each instrument plays an important role as this magnificent saxophone passage in 'Never Last'. In short, with 'From Here to the Impossible', 'Karibow' is releasing an album that certainly isn’t stepping down once but which in the end appears to be a formidable concept album to be added to the ideal records collection of any lover of rock progressive... |
