Album of the playlist 2020 : Metal symphonic albums of the year

If you are looking for 'Alessandro Del Vecchio' in myprogmusic, you should find quite a few albums in which the Italian has been soaked and 'Black Rose Maze' is a new project in which he has provided the compositions and the production and of course, participated as bassist and keyboardist. This new baby, initiated by 'Frontiers Music' is also based on the Quebec singer 'Rosa Laricchiuta' who participated in 2015 in the show 'La Voix' in her country (the equivalent of 'The Voice' in France) released an EP in 2017 'Free' and toured with 'Trans-Siberian Orchestra' in 2018. Unlike this as the album cover might suggest, it is not symphonic metal that 'Black Roze Maze' offers us but a melodic and powerful metal with direct compositions.

From the outset, 'In The Dark' deploys power and boundless energy with muscular guitar riffs and 'Rosa Laricchiuta' offers us a flawless first performance, thoroughly mastering a powerful voice that goes well with wonder with this energetic style, then 'Laws Of Attraction', always very melodic with softer verses offers a very nice duet with the singer of the super group 'Sons Of Apollo', 'Jeff Scott Soto' and 'Let Me Be Me', with an introduction that will certainly remind you of 'I Love Rock' N Roll' from 'Joan Jett' is a potential hit with alternating between calm verses preparing the chorus with this devastating riff that gives you an irresistible desire to headbang. A little lighter and less powerful, 'Free', taken from the EP of the taken from the Quebecer, is nevertheless a very pleasant title with a new accessible melody which allows to bring a certain diversity, just like 'Look At Me Now', also softer which also shows that in this style, 'Rosa Laricchiuta' offers us remarkable vocal performances, then 'Maze' returns to a heavier rock with always this constancy of having verses starting in a soft way and rising in intensity preparing heady and powerful refrains and this is also found on the title that follows 'Let Me free'. With 'Only You', the alternation between powerful parts and other quieter ones highlight a remarkable guitar / voice duo still showing Rosa's adaptability according to the intensity, then, 'Earth Calling' and 'You Can't Stop Me' are two energetic tracks with, for the latter, a fast tempo and memorable melodic lines, and the album ends with a melodic jewel, 'Call Me Now', showing, one last time the extraordinary vocal talent of the Quebecer singer, the only regret for my part, being to not have inserted another title as strong in emotion earlier in the album.

In summary, this first album of 'Black Rose Maze', fed with the heady melodies of an inventive 'Alessandro Del Vecchio' makes us discover 'Rosa Laricchiuta' in a powerful register which suits her perfectly which makes this first eponymous album of the group a nice surprise 2020 which should appeal to a whole audience adept at powerful and melodic in rock and metal styles...
