Decidedly, Brazil is in the spotlight because, after the second album of 'Landfall', it is the turn of their compatriots from the group 'Tarmat' to release a first studio recording 'Out of the Blue' but which stands out from 'Landfall' because their style is more moderate in a light AOR. Indeed, after the opening title 'Backbone Feeling' which is the most energetic of the album, more moderate compositions parade with for example the title song which takes us between pop and rock in a memorable melody with the accompaniment of radiant brass. We continue in a westcoast atmosphere with the following titles 'Moving Backwards' and 'Gibberish' then 'Rosetta Stone' is slightly more energetic in a classy AOR that we will find in 'True Colors'. But the second part of the album contains more delicate compositions with the quiet 'More Than Less', the mid-tempo 'Your Enemy' bringing us back to the sounds of the 80s or even 'Dinner's On The House' with its memorable melodic lines, the album ending with the very beautiful acoustic 'The Knight'. In short, if you like a peaceful AOR with some incursions into more energetic melodic rock, you should like 'Out of the Blue' which is very quickly tamed thanks to catchy melodic lines from the first listen... | |
