After more than 10 years without releasing an album of original songs, fans of 'Loreena McKennit' were eagerly awaiting 'Lost Souls', which was finally released in 2018. Known for its Celtic repertoire, which has toured the world. this new album comes out, as she says "out of his quest of the Celtic history" and she embarks us with its magic voice in a magnificent patchwork of sounds mixing different cultures. Even if the melodic lines remain fairly classical, she invited artists playing different "traditional" instruments which gives an exotic touch to the ensemble, and the theme that revolves around the "lost souls", reinforces this melancholy atmosphere as in the poignant 'Breaking of the Sword' honoring Canadian soldiers who fell in France during the First World War. In the end, 'Lost Souls' is a condensate of emotions sublimated by the harmonious and soothing voice of Loreena who continues to delight his audience as much after more than thirty years of career...
