'Tales from Avalon' dates from March 2023 and 'Chris Engels' continues to offer us very close albums since 'Pride' follows its predecessor by only two short months. This time he did not set poems by different authors to music but dealt with universal themes such as the struggle of life, passion and hope. We find these peaceful and atmospheric moods on which we are lulled by the soft voice of the German and the various previous reviews of myprogmusic relating to 'CEN-ProjekT' can be applied to this latest opus which takes us on a new progressive journey. filled with serenity.

We are welcomed by 'Black or White' whose theme is the importance of remaining true to oneself and the tone of the album is set with a first title which unfolds a refined melody, then 'Do I want to live forever?' which is a plea to live your life to the fullest trying to achieve all your dreams, continues in the same style and 'Heart and soul' reminds me of some titles of the Germans from 'RPWL'. If you hang on to these first three titles, there is a good chance that you will be seduced by the following: 'Illusions' shows a more marked rhythm by bringing us back a few decades with influences from 'Genesis', then parade 'Passion's Fire' which evokes a fiery passion, 'Peter' which is a call to build a world without war and violence, 'Poe' which is a tribute to the poet 'Edgar Poe' in a slightly more ambience atmosphere and 'Pride' which shows the way to being more fair and humble by rejecting any misplaced pride, the latter benefiting from beautiful melodic lines on a slow tempo with keyboard tones mimicking a flute which add a little more serenity. The last two compositions 'Our Fight' and 'The Beauty of Solitude' complete this beautiful progressive journey with new touching and relaxing melodies, the final crescendo of the last title bringing us back to reality after all these ambiences conducive to escape.

In summary, certainly even more atmospheric than the previous albums, 'Pride' continues the progressive adventure of 'Chris Engels' and adds a new studio recording which now brings the discography of his project 'CEN-ProjekT' to already seven albums in the space of four years (he released the last four in less than a year), which shows the considerable creativity of the German composer...
