The last album 'Unreal Seas' of the French of 'Psychanoia' starts with 'Deep Purple' influences. But, it would be reductive to limit them to this style because they have many other ropes to their bow. Indeed, we navigate between progressive rock and metal and the 8 titles show a real variety. For example, the mid - tempo 'This Between' slice with the first track with 'Wilsonian' influences and 'The Shadow in Me' is more a direct hard rock, with 'Thin Roads to Nowhere' and its beautiful melody, acoustic atmosphere gives a welcome aeration and 'Find to Way' reminds me of 'Arena'. In summary, the variety of this 'Unreal Seas' is double edged : a richness in the compositions that make it a must of rock/metal progressive and one of my favorites 2017 album but that will inevitably remain intended for a more restricted audience... | |
