'Alpha Souls' is a new melodic hard-rock project created by Spanish guitarist and keyboardist 'Ricardo Walls' and producer 'Hector Fontes' who are releasing a debut studio recording 'Carousel Of Emotions'. The line-up is completed by 'Borja Lopez' on bass, 'Manuel Delgado' on drums and the Greek 'Manos Fatsis' on vocals who sounds like 'David Coverdale' which gives the whole a little air of 'Whitesnake'. This first opus contains 13 very effective and direct tracks, all as melodic as the others with a majority of energetic and catchy compositions like the powerful 'Climb to the Top' or 'King of the Road' and their addictive rhythms or jewels melodic 'Live to the Full' and 'Bring It On' with their catchy refrains or even 'Six Minutes to Heaven' which takes us a few decades back with of course 'Whitesnake'. And when the tempo decreases, they also offer us remarkable mid-tempo in an AOR reminiscent of the 80s like 'Silent Days' making think of 'Foreigner' or 'Words Unspoken' with its melodic lines that never leave you or even 'Dreamer in the Night' and 'Believe' which are very tagged 80s, the first making me think of 'Toto' and the second to 'Europe', the calmer compositions not being forgotten with first of all 'How Well You Think You Know Me' which recalls the most beautiful ballads of 'Deep Purple' or even 'The Turning' which brings us back again to 'Whitesnake' who released two compilations in 2020 with first of all 'Love Songs' and 'The ROCK Album' and who still have to be released in 2021 a third compilation 'The Blues Album'.
In summary, this new project 'Alpha Souls' ends the 2020 melodic hard-rock releases in a very nice way and 'Carousel Of Emotions' should appeal to all audiences who love melodic hard-rock straight from the 80s and which has not aged a bit... | |
