Very discreet on the web, the Germans of 'Kamala' are releasing a new album, 'libom666', which is already the third after 'Radial Perception' in 2018 and 'Your Sugar' in 2019. Listening to the first titles of this latest opus, we find ourselves a few decades back in the psychedelic period with compositions strongly borrowed from sounds of the time and the first name that came to me in mind is the group 'The Doors' with their legendary title 'Riders on the Storm' released more than fifty years ago. So we embark on compositions that could have emerged in the late 60s, the style being known for hypnotic sounds and catchy melodic lines rock us throughout the album. Whatever the atmosphere of the title, the guitars and the keyboards deliver us chords bringing out these psychedelic atmospheres of the time and, in order not to make a title by title, I will quote the titles which have marked me the most as the catchy title track, 'Cut The Wire' with its sound effects from another era (see the video above), the energetic 'Freudian Autocorrect' which puts a little spice in the whole and 'Narcisse' which may recall some of the 'Beatles' tracks from the late 70s. In short, if you want to take a nice trip back in time to the era of 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' from the 'Beatles' or 'The End' from 'The Doors' or 'White Rabbit' from 'Jefferson Airplane' or the album 'Fifth Dimension' from 'The Byrds' to name only a few, you've come to the right place and 'limbo666' should take you, for a moment, to hypnotic rhythmics and haunting melodies characteristic of the psychedelic style that emerged in the course of the 60s and that the Germans of 'Kamala' manage to transcribe very well... | |
