I had discovered the Spaniards of 'Saurom' with their studio recording 'Música' dating from 2020 and 2023 sees the release of a new opus 'El Pájaro Fantasma'. Still in their native language, they continue in festive metal/folk with melodic lines that are grafted directly into the head. On the program of this new album, 10 new compositions for about forty minutes, each title having been the subject of a video which is available on a DVD.
And it starts strong with the first three compositions : first of all the title song (see the video above) shows a face with all the ingredients of a catchy and dancing metal and highlights 'Elizabeth Amoedo', the new singer of the symphonic metal band 'Against Myself' who was invited for the occasion, then 'No seré yo' (see the video ici) continues in this festive atmosphere with two other guest singers, 'Isra Ramos' d'Avalanch' and 'Ramón Lage' which form with 'Miguel A. Franco' an excellent vocal trio and finally, 'Burlesque' has nothing to envy to the two previous titles with a new addictive melody and radiant choirs. First break with 'No quedan palabras' which is a magnificent ballad in which the Spanish language brings a very special emotion, and which offers a magnificent 'Floydian' guitar solo in the second part of the title. And here we go again with 'Silencio roto' with its refrain which gives an irresistible desire to accompany 'Miguel A. Franco', then 'Mejor Sin Ti' (see the video here) and 'Fuego' (see video here) continue in a festive metal/folk with memorable melodies. Follows the driving 'Ojos Verdes' with a marked rhythm and, within the guitar solo, intonations flirting with 'Hotel California' of the 'Eagles', then, 'La llorona' shows a marked Hispanic face and offers a magnificent melody, and the moving 'Sueño' ends the album in a very beautiful way in a much calmer atmosphere.
In summary, the Spaniards of 'Saurom' continue their metal/folk adventure with a new album filled with catchy and festive compositions in the continuity of their previous albums and 'El Pájaro Fantasma' should please, beyond the fans from metallic folk to a wider audience that likes the dancing melodies that we appropriate at first listen... | |
