When we look at the list of artists that the Americans of 'Presto Ballet' appreciate on their facebook site, it's about the same names that came to my mind while listening to their latest album 'The Days Between' as for example 'Kansas’, ‘Genesis’, ‘Yes’, ‘Emerson Lake & Palmer’, ‘Supertramp’ or ‘BJH’. For example, with 'Tip of the Hat', the introduction is reminiscent of 'Kansas', then the first sung part is accompanied by a piano and takes us back to 'Supertramp' and finally the central instrumental part gets closer to the keyboards sounds from 'Keih Emerson'. But, contrary to what some might think, the mixture of these references is not laid end to end but keeps a real coherence bringing an own identity especially since they also bring more modern neo-progressive influences as in the last title 'I Am Wire' et all compositions have beautiful melodic lines which makes the whole very accessible. In summary, this last album of the Americans of 'Presto Ballet' confirms the talent of this group and 'The Days Between' is to advise to all amateurs of the golden age of the progressive and for my part, makes me want to visit in more detail all of their discography already well filled with already 4 other albums... | |
