That's it, 'John Mellecamp' is now part of the septuagenarians, but we still have the impression that time has no influence on him because he continues to offer us magnificent albums filled with timeless melodies that perpetuate the song of the greats artists of the 70s with, in the lead, 'Bob Dylan'. He had filled us with these last two albums, 'Sad Clowns & Hillbillies' from 2017 and 'Other People's Stuff' in 2018, without forgetting the live released in 2021. 'Strictly a One-Eyed Jack' is his 25th studio recording which sees the participation of 'Bruce Springsteen' on 3 of his songs. From the start, with 'I Always Lie to Strangers', we are seized by this hoarse voice which moves us on a gripping melody, an atmosphere that we find in the following title 'Driving In The Rain' with a ballad of which he has the secret. This moving melancholy can also be found in the beautiful ballads 'Streets Of Galilee', 'Sweet Honey Brown', 'Gone So Soon' and the two titles 'Wasted Days' (see video above) and 'A Life Full of Rain' which he shares with 'Bruce Springsteen'. Alternating with these remarkable moments, he also offers us catchy songs in an authentic blues with memorable melodies like 'I Am A Man That Worries', 'Did You Say Such a Thing', 'Strictly a One-Eyed Jack' or even 'Lie To Me'. In summary, album after album, 'John Mellecamp' continues to live this tradition of songs that brings us back to the best of the 60s/70s and 'Strictly a One-Eyed Jack' is still there to prove it and give us a very good time listening to all these beautiful timeless melodies...
