'Last In Line' is a formation that was created two years after the death of 'Ronnie James Dio' in 2012 by guitarist 'Vivian Campbell' who took with him drummer 'Vinny Appice' and bassist 'Jimmy Bain' , all three being the original members of the 'Dio' line-up, joined by vocalist 'Andrew Freeman'. After the death of 'Jimmy Bain' in 2016, it is now 'Phil Soussan' who is the bassist of the group and who was already in the line up of the last album 'II' released in 2019. 2023 therefore sees the release of a new album, 'Jericho', in which we find this hard rock taking us back to the best of the 80s style and entry, the tone and given with a 'Not Today Satan' on which the rhythm section of 'Vinny Appice' is enormous, then, 'Ghost Town' continues in a slightly more moderate by offering us a typical tempo of 'Led Zeppelin', the guitar solo in the middle of the title being remarkable. What follows remains in this same well-tempered style, with the two well-marked mid-tempo rhythms 'Bastars Son' and 'Dark Days', the latter recalling the 'Into The Fire' from 'Deep Purple' but also compositions like 'Do the Work' to knock your head off by dint of headbanging or the impetuous 'Hurricane Orlagh' that we already knew because he was present on the 'Beatles' cover EP 'A Day in the Life' or the energetic 'Walls of Jericho'. We will not miss either a more moderate 'Burning Bridges' which brings a moment of respite or the melodic hit 'We Don't Run' with its addictive chorus with its generous choirs. In short, until the last blast 'House Party at the End of the World' taking us back to the 80s, the rhythm does not falter and if you like a hard rock full of energy that sends heavy, you should adopt fairly quickly 'Jericho' which should be among the best hard rock releases of 2023...
