It is with 'The Evolving Science of Self' that the English of 'Dead Of Night' who had already self-produced 3 albums since 2015 (See Here) will perhaps be better known because they have finally found a record label. Their style is between rock and symphonic metal with a female singer 'Briony Featon' which evolves in a classical register and they have the peculiarity to use electronic sounds with a highlight of the keyboards because the electric guitar is only there for the part rhythmic. This last opus is a concept album on the theme of science that often shares humans by its good and bad aspects. About music, all tracks are melodic, catchy at first listen and are shared between epic compositions like 'Here Come the Metal Men' or 'Invasion', others more classical where the symphonic side is less marked as 'Serephim', 'For I Am Music', 'When the Nightingale Sings' or the highly electronic 'The Six Steps' and finally other quieter ones such as the mid-tempo 'One for the Moon' or the ballads 'Set the Night on Fire' and 'I Will'. In summary, like the last title 'Onward', 'Dead of Night' released a very accessible album where finally symphonic rock prevails over metal and, therefore, should be intended for a relatively large audience...
