After a first album album in 2016 (see here), the Scandinavians of 'Nordic Union', led by the talented and prolific Swede 'Erik Martensson' who already participates in a lot of adventures of the melodic metal scene ('Eclipse', 'Ammunition', 'WET') and the singer of 'Pretty Maids', 'Ronnie Atkins', release a second studio album 'Second Coming'. And like the previous album, between rock and hard-rock melodic, it's still a faultless with a succession of hits that take you fishing for a whole day with memorable choruses that never leave you (The two singles 'Because of Us' and 'Walk Me Through the Fire' have certainly been drawn from the short straw!). I could disribe this opus title by title but, for short, I'll give you the example of 3 tracks that follow each other in the middle of the album: first, with 'Rock's Still Rolling', if you do not type with your foot on the chorus, it's because this opus is not for you; then with the mid-tempo 'Breathtaking', it's my head that takes over to beat the measure and finally, the power ballad 'Die Together' has something that multiple formations of the same style could envy. In summary, this 2nd album 'Nordic Union' is still a very nice surprise in late 2018 and if you like a hard-rock melodic and accessible, you can go with your eyes closed and consume this 'Second Coming' without moderation... | |
