And to finish with the albums released in 2021, it is the Dutch of Epica 'who are in the spotlight with the magnificent album' Omega Live 'which must have made many happy among the fans by discovering the DVD or the Blu-Ray at the foot of the tree last Christmas. To promote 'Omega' and due to the health crisis, they were deprived of touring in 2021 and the idea germinated to do, as many groups are doing now, a live streaming and was born this project which was broadcast to all fans on June 12, 2021. And to live up to the impressive trilogy proposed by the Dutch (the first two chapters being 'The Quantum Enigma' from 2014 and 'The Holographic Principle' from 2016), they concocted an impressive live which, beyond the music, is a real show with a spectacular setting.

For a good hour and a half, they perform the flagship titles of their careers, leaving a good place for the last opus because of the 15 titles, 7 come from them including the long development 'Kingdom of Heaven, Pt.3 - The Antediluvian Universe'. Although no public is present, throughout the concert we feel this energy at every moment deployed by each member of the group and this pleasure of playing together, energy and pleasure that they know how to transmit to the public. In the highlights of this five-act show, I will remember this concert debut with the first three chained titles of 'Alpha - Anteledium', 'Abyss of Time - Countdown to Singularity' and 'The Skeleton Key', the 2 long developments 'Kingdom of Heaven' following for nearly 30 minutes, 'Rivers' sung a capella which highlights very beautiful emotional vocal arrangements and, of course, this majestic finale with 'Cry for the Moon - The Embrace That Smothers Part IV' and 'Beyond the Matrix' which are chained without pause and which repeatedly gave me this little thrill of a very great listening pleasure. And for those who missed the concert on the internet and who do not yet have the DVD or Blu-Ray, the Dutch have posted on their You Tube channel, in addition to the many teasers, four extracts from the concert which give a good idea of this show with multiple scenic effects: 'The Skeleton Key' (see video above), 'Unchained Utopia', 'Victims Of Contingency' et 'The Antediluvian Universe – Kingdom Of Heaven Pt. III'.

In short, the Dutch of 'Epica' have made use of the health crisis to offer their fans a very nice gift and perhaps to further expand their audience, because 'Omega Alive', which cannot be conceived without the video is certainly their most impressive live and shows all the talent of this group which has become a world reference in the field of symphonic metal...
