It's another formation that is not making the buzz on the internet that I present to you today: 'Cyber Band' is a formation of three young Filipinos who have already released the album 'In My Dumb Perspective' in 2020 which was released on streaming platforms. Even if they are part of the generation of the 2000s, this first opus showed influences of artists from the 70s/80s with a style turned towards melodic pop. For this last opus, we find these same influences, but they diversify their style because 'The Light' includes a first part with more rock compositions and a second where we find pop melodies. From the first titles, we go back a few decades with a tasty patchwork of names that come to mind like 'Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young' ('First Light'), 'Led Zeppelin' ('Fire'), the 'Stones' ('One Way Ticket') or U2 ('Don't You Ever Give Up') and the album continues with other references like 'Pink-Floyd' ('Where Are You'), ' Alan Parsons' ('Wars'), The 'Beatles' ('Without A Doubt'), 'Elton John' ('Love'), the 'Beach Boys' (I'm Doing Fine') or even 'Eagles' ( 'A Million Things'). Also note the instrumental 'Aveda Kedavra' which merges different influences ranging from film music to jazzy atmospheres and the last title 'As I Sail' which, with its 7 minutes, brings a good dose of progressive with an incredibly epic central part surrounded by very original instrumental sections and a grand finale. In short, even if the production is not yet flawless, the three young Filipinos of 'Cyber Band' release a very good album, diversified and melodic and, 'The Light' should make happy all those who love pop and rock of the 70s/80s...
