'Communic' is a Norwegian formation which had a period of activity in the years 2000 then after 6 years of absence, returned in 2017 with 'Where Echoes Gather' and this end of the year 2020 sees the release of a new studio recording 'Hiding from the World'. Difficult to classify, our artists who are only three and who therefore rely instrumentally on a guitar, a bass and a drums, add to a melodic power metal taking us back to the 90s a zest of progressive and a good dose of extreme metal in relatively long compositions highlighting alternations of intensity and rhythms. For this new opus, the durations therefore range from 7 minutes to more than 10 minutes (if we consider that the instrumental short 'Soon to Be' is entirely part of 'Forgotten').

And it is in a riot of heavy and powerful riffs and a muscular rhythm section that 'Plunder Of Thoughts' welcomes us and it is certainly the most progressive track with breaks of instrumental intensity and remarkable modulations in the singing of the leader of the group 'Oddleif Stensland', then the eponymous title of the album begins with a fairly calm part which quickly gains momentum after 1,30' and which deploys a formidable energy thanks to riffs saturated powerful and a raging rhythm section to fall down for a few moments and finally regain strength until a final in decrescendo on a heady melodic theme. 'My Temple if Pride', which follows, continues to deploy an imposing power but in the form of an addictive new melody on a slow tempo which varies in intensity thanks to a rhythm section doubling more and more the beats until the end , then, 'Face In The Crowd' sends heavy with the help of the double pedal in an atmosphere of extreme metal while keeping melodic lines but which also offers slower passages in the second part of the title, and, the 10 minutes of 'Born Without A Heart' take us on a succession of breaks in tempos and intensities, starting quietly and taking after 3 minutes more and more power for much more incisive riffs accompanying us to a new station wagon, the finale once again pouring out enormous power which evaporates in a few guitar arpeggios. With 'Scavengers Await', the aggressiveness of an extreme metal is at its peak but the modulations inside the title make it possible not to get too lost in too much sound surge, then the album ends in beauty with the double track 'Soon to Be' and 'Forgotten' whose the short instrumental prepares the ground for a magnificent epic fresco alternating tensions and relaxation between melancholy and aggressiveness on a melody that never leaves you and that I see already taken up in hearts by a whole audience.

In summary, the Norwegians of 'Communic' who will soon celebrate their 20 years of career, are releasing a new album full of energy and power but which highlights beautiful breaks in tempo and intensity and which asks to linger there to draw all the richness which should appeal to an audience loving a powerful metal offering beautiful variations within each title...
