'Hearscape' is a young French rock band based in Lyon who have just released their first studio recording. They have signed with the label 'Epitronik' which brings them a greater visibility and they offer us 9 compositions in a radiophonic format between pop and rock sprinkled with some electronic sounds and a few pinches of progressive with catchy melodic lines which become familiar from the first listen. We are greeted by the ballad 'Nothing But You' which highlights the singing of 'Léa Berthoux' who is also the keyboardist of the group and which begins as a piano/voice ballad and which grows with the arrival of the instruments electric, then, 'Timeless' brings electro sounds on a slow tempo and unfolds beautiful melodic lines on which I would have seen a 'Floydian' guitar solo. With 'Promised Me', we are resolutely in modern and catchy pop/rock and 'Clone' shows a face more oriented towards blues/rock. Follows 'Proper Eyes' which is the longest composition of the album, and which offers a more progressive construction with very beautiful vocal harmonies on a gripping melody and which ends on a beautiful guitar solo which would have deserved a longer development. Follows 'Run', the single from the album (see the video here) which offers a catchy rhythm and a more direct approach in modern pop, then, 'On The Ground' continues in a hovering atmosphere around a new catchy melody with a rhythm section with electronic tones. With the acoustic 'Hurting Night', we find as on the first title a very beautiful piano/voice introduction which continues with magnificent vocal harmonies and shows the talent of this group in refined atmospheres, then, the album ends by 'Featuring Soul', mixing lyrics in French and English, with magnificent alternations between sections filled with a touching sensitivity brought about by the moving vocals of 'Léa Berthoux' and other much energetic ones in which the same 'Léa Berthoux' knows how to adapt his voice very well to bring all the necessary power.

In summary, this young French formation 'Hearscape', led by a talented singer, already shows great maturity for a first studio recording and has all the assets to be known by a fairly large audience, because everything is implemented in 'Transient' to offer melodic compositions that catch on from the first listen...
