Following the 'Versions of the Truth' album released in the midst of the pandemic in September 2020, the Englishmen of 'The Pineapple Thief', frustrated at not being able to defend it live, recorded a live session in the studio with no audience entitled 'Nothing But The Truth'. 'Bruce Sord' had already used the internet in the course of 2020 to stream 4 successive sessions live for fans which culminated in the release of 4 CDs 'The Soord Sessions Volumes 1-4' in December 2020 and excerpts of which can be seen on youtube with for example 'Demons'. As far as 'Nothing But The Truth' is concerned, it is indeed the whole band that participates and the set list includes compositions from their extensive discography with, of course, a good place for the latest opuses, and the interpretations quite close to the studio recordings allow to go through a kind of best of of the English who distill their refined progressive rock with harmonious melodic lines in overall calm and soothing atmospheres. Icing on the cake, the English have put the package on the recording which is of an irreproachable quality with the blu-ray that they offer in DTS-HD 5.1 version and in high-definition stereo. The video has also been particularly well looked after and three videos can be viewed on youtube with 'Someone Pull Me Out' (see video above), 'Our Mire' (see video here) and 'Wretched Soul' (see video here). In short, if you are a fan of the Englishmen of 'The Pineapple Thief' but also if you are a lover of neat progressive music filled with a remarkable sensitivity, 'Nothing But The Truth' should undoubtedly be added to your collection of indispensable albums and if you have a quality hifi system, the blu-ray brings an additional dimension and will be able to compensate for the cruel lack of concerts for almost two years now and to transform your living room into a concert hall for a while... | |
