The band of 'Sean Timms', which had released in 2016 an excellent first album (see here) continues its momentum with a no less excellent 'Civilization'. This new opus has only 4 titles and we could say before listening that they made an EP like the Dutch of 'Projection' (see here), but, in the end, the whole exceeds the hour of listening with a title of 19 minutes and the cornerstone of the album 'The Crossroads' nearly 30 minutes, the other 2 titles finally appear very short with all the same their 10 minutes each !! So, we embark on progressive and symphonic epics that must of course be appropriated by force of listenings like any composition of this kind because the nooks and crannies are numerous with tempos and ambiances very different from each other. And the great strength of the Australians is to captivate the listener from beginning to end because, even in the flagship title of the album, 'The Crossroads', there is always something going on wether it’s on vocal or instrumental plan and it's good to lose voluntarily in this cultural patchwork between Orient and Occident. In summary, with this 2nd album 'Civilization', the Australians of 'Southern Empire' confirm in a very beautiful way the quality of their production which will nonetheless remain destined for an informed public loving progressive music with long developments...
