The Norwegians from 'Tusmørke' return with a new opus, 'Hestehoven', after 'Nordisk Krim' in 2021 and 'Intetnett' in 2022 and they continue their adventure of psychedelic folk from the beginning of progressive which takes us back to the 60s in a rural atmosphere highlighting the sounds of this era, in particular with the use of flute. From the start, with 'Cycle of the Gylfaginning', we embark on the lands of the beginning of 'Jethro Tull' and 'Renaissance' brought together and if you agree with this first title, there is a good chance that you will also adopt the eponymous title of the album with its solos of keyboards with the sounds of the first electronic organs and with its cover of the 'Lambada' in the middle of the title but also the light and bucolic 'Den behornede guden' and the lively 'Åndemaneren'. The second part of the album highlights the flute and violin with 'Jeg klumser deg' and the singing in Norwegian further adds to this Nordic prog-folk atmosphere. As for 'Kyprianos', the more psychedelic sounds make it a haunting title in a strange atmosphere and the last title 'The Wicked Ways of Witches and Wizards' sung this time in English, is a good summary of the album by integrating all its ingredients, light and bucolic passages and others flirting with more obscure and mysterious lands.
In summary, the Norwegians of 'Tusmørke' continue to perpetuate this Nordic folk with vintage sounds taking us back to the sixties and if you are a fan of this flourishing period which was bathed in psychedelia and during which many groups became essentials were born, you should without a doubt adhere to these timeless compositions which, proof of this, are still current among some... | |
