In symphonic metal, formations continue to flourish all over the planet and the Americans of Anthea' are part of these new groups raised to the sounds of 'Nightwish' and 'Within Temptation' which emerge to water us with energetic and melodic with this time, once is not custom, two singers because 'Diego Valadez' shares the microphone with 'Juan Pina', the first in clean vocals and the second accompanying him with growls. After a first album 'Illusion' in 2019, 2022 sees the release of their second 'Tales Untold' studio recording. They therefore continue to ride the wave of symphonic metal by adding an impressive power and we could easily add the qualifier power to their style because it takes off like a rocket with the title song of the album (see video above) which mixes power metal and metal symphonic with a frantic rhythm and with some growls of 'Juan Pina'. Follows 'Ascendance', in the same style, with slightly more marked symphonic effects and, with the same energy deployed, we can also mention 'The Deceiver' and 'Looking Glass' in which the growls take a more important place or 'Empyrean' (see video here) and its fast rhythm which moves away from symphonic metal for heavy metal or even 'Sunder Heart' with an opposition between extreme verses and a chorus with catchy melodic lines. Some compositions are in a more classic symphonic metal with for example 'Song for Winter' and its catchy chorus or the cover 'In Time' of 'Robbie Robb' in a much more muscular version as you can imagine. Another striking composition, 'Sapiens' takes us on an exotic journey with oriental scents and the Americans do not miss the beautiful power ballad with 'Memorian' which allows a break in the middle of the album and in which 'Diego Valadez' makes great vocal performance. In short, even if they are not going to revolutionize the style, the Americans of Anthea' release a good album in which they add a good dose of power and more growls compared to their first opus and which should make everyone happy. lovers and all lovers of power metal and symphonic metal... | |
