The case of the 'Leprous' is quite strange because we wonder if they do not deliberately muddy the waters with each album release which necessarily disrupts the fans who are accustomed to a style and who do not understand (they are tagged Metal Progressive). For me, it is a proof of total artistic freedom and 'Malina' contains nuggets which are revealed little by little through listening. 'Bonneville' opens the dance with a felted atmosphere that becomes more marked around a fast rhythmic part and then ends up exploding on the end with the very particular vocals of 'Einar Solberg' using his head voice. 'Stuck' is more classic with an eye-catching melody and the title 'From The Flame' gives a certain emotion with an impressive work of 'Baard Kolstad' on drums, which, with the Einar songing, are only one. The tempo calms down with the ballad 'Leashes' and its addictive refrain. With 'Malina', it is another facet more stripped that we will also find on the last 2 tracks 'The Weight Of Disaster' and 'The Last Milestone' and is certainly the hardest to own, but ultimately the one that most marked me, because it puts even more emphasis the singular voice of Einar which transmits an emotion always on the edge. In summary, with 'Malina', 'Leprous' may be cut off from a certain audience, but for me, release their the most successful and the most creative album provided take time to tame it...
