Bands of the 70s have still good days ahead because after 'Cheap Trick' it is the turn of 'Styx' to release their 16th album 12 years after 'Big Bang Theory' which was an album of covers. 'The Mission' is therefore a new album with new compositions on the theme of a mission on Mars in 2033. And on the music side, we find the band that we knew a few decades ago with melodic and accessible titles with on addition a fairly impressive variety of styles : from a very catchy 'Gone Gone Gone' to a 'Hundred Million Miles For Now' with choirs close to 'Crosby Still Nash And Young' and 'Radio Silence' refrain where the vocal harmonies are very worked or ‘Khedive’ and its classical piano theme. In short, nothing to throw in this last album which is a very good surprise for a band that we did not expect anymore and that set us back for a moment into a savant mixture of seventies pop, rock and hard-rock for our greatest pleasure ...
