The Americans of 'Tyranny Of Hours' have already released a first album in 2013 and it is with 'Darkling' released in June 2018 that I discovers them. They evolve in a symphonic metal tinted of progressive and from the first composition 'River of Stones', I can not help but draw a parallel with 'Edenbridge' (see their latest album here) because the singer 'Michelle Mattair' is in the register of 'Sabine Edelsbacher' and the construction of the titles makes me think of what 'Lanvall' does, that is to say a powerful introduction where the guitar riffs fill all the space to introduce a quieter sung part. The following 'Oceandead' is in the same style and 'Waited' with its changing tempo brings a touch of progressive. The continuation is in continuity of the first titles and one can emphasize, beyond the beautiful vocal of Michelle, the talent of all the members of the group, as for example in the rhythm section or in the guitars solos. In summary, the Americans of 'Tyranny Of Hours', even if they can still progress to offer us even more varied compositions (they have the potential), released a good symphonic metal album that should appeal to all fans of this style of music...
