'Salva' is a Swedish band that has already been around 15 years of existence and has just released its 5th studio album 'Off The Deep End'. Difficult to give them a specific style because they draw their inspiration from the rock and hard-rock currents of the 70s by adding progressive and symphonic components. With the first title 'King of Nothing', it is a fresco of more than 10 minutes that embarks us on an epic journey but whose construction is quite classic. With 'Clarity I', the hard-rock style of the 70's is very marked and we can refer to bands like 'Deep Purple' or 'Uriah Heep' while the title 'Skyclad' is an atmospheric ballad, then, 'Clarity II' is melodic rock and 'The Ghost of Fives' is a mix between an 'Floydian' atmospheric mood and a playful rock / folk vibe. The following titlez scrolls a 'Clarity III' mixing blues and jazz then with 'Under the Fear', we return to a hard rock seventies and, then, 'Clarity IV' is a second semi acoustic ballad that can be reminiscent of westcoast and gets closer to the moods of 'Eagles', the album ending in another register by 'Brickshort' which embarks us in a magnificent epic melody mixing the classic with symphonic rock and could be compared to 'Therion' (see their latest album here) for these classical choruses accompanied by electric instruments (listen to the chorus at 4.15). In short, the Swedes of 'Salva' offers us a very interesting patchwork and especially accessible and this 'Off The Deep End' should be very suitable for all those who love the mix of genres...
