At the dawn of 2020, 2019 was full of live, so here is the list of myprogmusic chronicles of live in styles very different from each other, ranging from folk to metal through to progressive rock. To this first list, for a fortnight, will be added other live released in 2019 but which had not yet been the subject of chronicle.

After the magnificent concert given at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2017 and released in 2018 (see here), the English of 'Marillion' released a new album 'With Friends from the Orchestra' which as its name suggests is a re-recording of certain titles from their repertoire but with orchestral instruments and have embarked on a tour with only two dates in France. For the occasion, they called on the string quartet ‘In Praise Of Folly’, the flautist ‘Emma Halnan’ and the corriste ‘Sam Morris’. The result makes us rediscover these reorchestrated titles with the warmth of string instruments which gives another light on all these titles which were chosen from a panel of compositions which were already quite refined at the origin like 'Estonia', 'Beyond You 'or' The Sky Above The Rain '(see list and original album below). Remarkably re-orchestrated, each song takes us on a journey into the world of 'Marillion' with, for my part, favorites for 'Estonia', 'The Sky Above The Rain' and 'Seasons End' which give me more emotion to listen compared to the original. In short, these 9 tracks for 79 minutes of listening (which pass so quickly) is a beautiful gift from ‘Marillion’ for all fans but also for all those who love a rich and refined progressive rock..
