As its name does not indicate and that makes them think that they come from Italy, 'Coma Rossi' is in fact a formation born in India in 2014 in Bangalore. Their style mixes progressive and atmospheric rock with some influences that they go to seek in their culture on certain melodic lines as for example in the title of introduction 'Mirage' where the intonations mix East and West and where they alternate changes of rhythm and powerful parts and others quieter. This album contains 8 titles that are all relatively long, ranging from 6 minutes to almost 14 minutes and each title develops a peaceful and serene atmosphere: 'Transmission' is the fastest title and we embark on a lively atmosphere with a beautiful solo guitar in the second half of the title, the instrumental 'Jomolungma is Far Away' is more psychedelic with its haunting rhythm and modulations of guitar sounds that crescendo up to powerful riffs, then, 'Yellow Escape' takes us in an atmospheric 'Floydian' style while 'Dream' is aptly named because we let ourselves be lulled by the slow tempo that makes us travel in several successive soundscapes. The continuation continues in this rather enchanting style with 'Stillborn' where the sweetness of the piano side the power of the guitars and, after 'Turn Back Time' which reminds me of some constructions of 'U2', 'Lost' closes the album with a title whose beautiful melody of the sung part remains long in mind and where the second instrumental part is very beautiful. In summary, between progressive and atmospheric, 'Coma Rossi' is a group that releases an album that is a great surprise 2018 and should appeal to a public loving a relaxing progressive rock to listen to and should appeal to a public loving a relaxing progressive rock to listen to peacefully, the headphones on their ears...
