'Dilemna' is a band from the 90s who had reformed in 2012 for a concert and just released a new album 'Random Acts of Liberation'. At the origin of this new album, they had a singer 'Danny Butler' who was replaced by 'Dec Burke'. Their style is quite eclectic because they mix various influences and so we must take the time to discover this opus little by little to tame it especially since they offer us 1 hour and 12 minutes of listening in 14 tracks. The length of the titles is very variable and goes from 2 to 12 minutes with classic construction for the shorter ones and progressive aspects more present for the titles which exceed the 5 minutes. On the music side, they offer us catchy melodic lines with components alternating tension and relaxation like in 'Amsterdam (This City)', 'Openly', 'Play With Sand' or the flagship title and very epic 'The Inner Darkness' more than 12 minutes with its majestic end which is the typical example of this alternation. The quieter moments are also present with 'Aether', 'Intervals' or 'Wonder' while short tracks like the 'Dear Brian' acoustic or the 'Spiral II' instrumental allow aeration to the ensemble. In summary, between pop, rock and metal with progressive tendencies, 'Random Acts of Liberation' is a dense and rich album as well on the length but also by a mixture of the genres but is above all very accessible thanks to catchy melodic lines and should please a broad enough public open to a very affordable progressive music...
