Quebec counts a lot of groups of progressives (see 'Mystery' and their last album ici ) and 'D Project', led by his leader 'Stéphane Desbiens' is part of these formations born in the 2000s who have been nourished by diverse and varied influences of the last forty years and who have collaborated with big names of progressive since the beginning of their career. With this fifth album, the list of guests is still long and the compositions of 'Find Your Sun' contain a multitude of different atmospheres assembled by a goldsmith that is 'Stéphane Desbiens' to make something unique that tame slowly during repeatedly listening. And strangely, the longest title borders the 9 minutes while each title gives the impression to cross multiple musical landscapes : as an example, the first title 'The End' of 6 minutes begins with layers of keyboards on which is superimposed a guitar 'Gilmourienne' and is followed by an instrumental part with voices on the music that hardens for a progressive metal section, and, in the middle of the title, there is a total break for an acoustic part close to 'Cat Stevens' to finish with the power of the first progressive metal sequence. With 'Crude Reality', I have the impression of hearing a cross between 'Pendragon' and 'Pink-Floyd', then 'Tell Me' is a more melancholic title with a magnificent acceleration on the end and a magnificent solo of violin played by 'Isabelle Cormier' and, with 'The Sting', we find ourselves in an atmosphere with 'Floydienne' influences mixing periods pre and post 'Roger Waters' with the sound of the Cor of the French 'Romain Thorel' at the end of the title (see the latest album of 'Lazuli' here). The following scrolls the confusing 'Life to Spare', which begins conventionally with a pop / rock style but is embellished in the second part by beautiful instrumental disgressions on the main theme, the ballad 'Be Kind', sung by 'Peter Falconer' (see the last album of 'Drifiting Sun' here) has this note in the guitar solo at 3.30 which makes us climb to the ceiling, and then 'Find Your Sun' which managed to put 3 end-to-end very distinct sections in less than 4 minutes and the last title ‘Be Free’, composed by 'Philippe Desbiens', son of Séphane, closes beautifully this opus with its beautiful melody and the admirable central guitar solo. In short, after the magnificent 'Damanek' chonique a few days ago (see here), the Canadians of 'D Project' release an album at the end of this year 2018 that has to be added to the ideal discotheque of any progressive music fan...
