'Cellar Darling' is composed from 3 former members of the Swiss metal band 'Eluveitie' and they created this new project in 2016; 2017 sees the release of their first album 'This Is The Sound'. Their style is based on metal which they incorporate rock and folk touch. Other musicians are invited on the album to bring this side folk with a violin, an Irish bagpipe and a flute playing by the female singer 'Anne Murphy'. Everything begins with the 3 titles 'Avalanche', 'Black Moon' 'And 'Challenge' that remind me of 'Lyriel' with its folk side. The following is a bit a cross between 'Nightwish' and 'Within Temptation' and this ability to alternate powerful and calmer parts like 'The Hermit', 'Six Days', ‘Rebels' or 'Hedonia' where the folk side mixes with melodies more classical. To summarize, 'Cellar Darling' release a promising first album and are able to extricate themselves from metal bands with female singers by bringing their own personality...
