When 'John Mitchell' (amongst other things, guitarist of ‘Arena’ for twenty years which was one of my 2015 favorites albums Here) releases a new project, he catches the attention in the web on progressive music sites. He released In 2015 'Come Home' and 2017 saw the launch of 'The Big Dream'. Like always, the theme revolves around science fiction and his astronaut continues to discover other worlds. Accompanied by his companions 'Nick Beggs' (bassist of 'Steve Hackett' and 'Steve Wilson'), Graig Blundel (Drummer of 'Steve Wilson') and a few other guests, he offers us an almost hour of progressive rock from a variety of sought titles like 'Awakenings', 'Sigma' or 'Everglow', with successive atmospheres and guitar’s solos of which he alone has the secret, to more intimate compositions like ‘In Floral Green’, ‘The Devine Art Of Being’ or ‘Hello World Goodbye’ (there is 'Peter Gabriel' inside !!). We can note also a very successful cosmic instrumental saga of 8 minutes and the two acoustics tracks 'In Floral Green' and 'The Art Of Being'. In summary, 'John Mitchell' confirms with 'The Big Dream' that he continues to evolve in the best of the bunch of progressive rock by offering us a flawless album which will certainly be well received by all fans of the genre but which should also, thanks to very accessible titles, reach a fairly wide audience...
