'Tucana' is a group of Swedes who began their career almost thirty years ago but who actually started recording in 2012 a first album under the name of the group after their reformation in 2008. The end of 2018 saw the release of their second album 'Legacy' with compositions written throughout their career. They define themselves as making progressive baroque metal and listening to the first tracks of this new album, I found the style of 'Aeneas' band that I had reviewed in January 2019 (see their album here) and of course the style of their compatriots 'Jono' (see their album here). First, the singer 'Niklas Birgersson' evolves in an expressive register that is in perfect harmony with the melodic compositions giving off an epic and theatrical atmosphere and then, the use of keyboards and strings bring this baroque atmosphere that the group claims. To name just a few, I'll talk about 'Hills of Variance' typical of an epic progressive title with different parts that follow each other, then, about ‘Eternal Rhyme', which is the typical example of this side symphonic and theatrical where the piano mixes with electric instruments, about the beautiful ballad 'Searching The Flame' which allows to do a pause, and about 'Wounded Heart' which allows the meeting of metal and classical music and about finally 'Blind' or 'Promise of a New World' which this time mix oriental influences with classical. We can also note this beautiful cover that fits well in this mix between classicism and modernity. In summary, the Swedes of 'Tucana' release a quality album that fits in a metal melodic, symphonic and theatrical in the same trend as 'Jono' and if you liked their compatriots, you should be seduced by 'Legacy'...
