The Americans of 'Manchester Orchestra' come back with a new album 'A Black Mile To The Surface' and each release sees an evolution in the style of the group which is defined as an alternative rock band. With the first track 'The Maze', it's a gliding atmosphere that awaits you and the title 'The Gold' is between pop and rock with a melody close to 'Simon and Garfunkel' but with worked arrangements like a progressive group. The sequel is divided into acoustic titles ('The Alien', 'The Part') and more energetic compositions ('The Moth', 'The Wolf') but always in a certain restraint. To sum up, even if some will have trouble with Andy Hull's nasal voice, we must be admitted that with 'A Black Mile To The Surface', 'Manchester Orchestra' release their most successful album in regard to melodies and arrangements which should be possible for them to reach a wider audience...
