'Excalion' is a Finnish band that I reviewed in 2017 with the album 'Dream Alive' (see here) and 2019 sees the release of a new recording studio 'Emotions'. With the same line up, this new baby is in continuity with the previous one and the 10 tracks (the version with a bonus presented by Spotify) all have melodies that attract from the first listening in a melodic metal style energetic where we find the keyboards of 'Jarmo Myllyvirta' always ahead from the guitar riffs. Take for example 'The Mercy Racers', it has a very classic chorus but hyper effective, and this is also valid for other titles all as melodic as each other as' Trust', 'Sunshine Path', 'Lost Control 'or' The Golden Horde '. One can also note the mid-tempos 'Solitude' and 'Callsigns' with variations of tempos bringing a touch of progressive and the ballad 'I Left My Heart at Home' which allow to bring a quieter touch.
In short, the Finns of Excalion 'continue in the way they have traced in the previous opuses and, even if they do not revolutionize the genre, 'Emotions' is a nice album to listen to and should please all those love a melodic, energetic and accessible metal...
