'Cliff Magness' is not necessarily a very well known name in the rock world because he worked more often for other artists as a composer or producer and this 'Lucky Dog' is actually only his second studio album under his name after 'Solo' in 1994. And the least we can say is that these 11 compositions offer a fairly wide range of melodic rock of the last 40 years. 'Is not No Way' starts off the album in a hard-rock style that releases a good positive energy and then, with 'Do not Look Now', we return to a very melodic AOR 80/90 style that we appreciate from the first listen. Follows the much quieter ballad, 'Unbroken', which could have been written by the 'Gibb' brothers in the blooming years of the 'Bee Gees' and, 'Nobody but You' sounds like 'BJH', 'Ring Of Changes' period. In short, 'Clif Magness' shows that he is a talented songwriter and they offer us beautiful melodies that are varied, timeless and accessible, which intends this 'Lucky Dog' to a large audience... | |
