Album of the playlist 2020 : Metal symphonic albums of the year

In these troubled and anxious times which deprive us of our freedom to move and which see many bankruptcies, culture is not spared, and especially music, since all concerts are canceled and for the majority of artists, tours represent a large part of their income during which they also sell their albums (therefore, favor this direct sale whether in concert or on the artist's website or, failing that, on facebook stores, even if facebook asks a back up of 5%, this making it possible to limit intermediaries as much as possible). Fortunately, some artists have tried to find alternatives during the lockdown period and this is the case of 'Imperial Age' which, after the release of 'Live in Wroclaw' in early 2020, had the idea of organizing a concert without an audience and at their expense on April 25 Broadcast live on the internet with 38,000 fans who were thrilled to hear this band which is starting to make itself known worldwide and which I had discovered during a 'Therion' in 2016 in my favorite hall of z7 near Basel.

We thus find the hymns of this Russian formation which, with nearly two hours, offer us a very complete set of its discography of which the last album ' The Legacy of Atlantis' is played in its entirety. Certainly, even if we do not find the atmosphere of a real concert (I can certify it to you, even in a small room like the z7, these concerts are a real moment of communion for the fans), we feel that all band members are happy to be there for their audience and give it their all, starting with the epic 'Turn the Sun off!' which kicks off the concert in a wonderful way, Alexander, Jane and Anna being at the top of their art and the sequel unfurls the compositions which have all become familiar and which are good for the soul in need during this painful time. Everything is there to spend (or replay) a good time listening to 'The Escape', 'Vanaheim', 'Love Eternal', 'Aryavarta' or even 'The Legacy of Atlantis' to name just a few titles.

In summary, this album release, out of the ordinary, shows all the tenacity of artists who have only the sole objective of continuing to do what they have always loved to do for the happiness of their audience and this 'Live on Earth', in addition to being an excellent concert by the Russians is a magnificent initiative which should be emulated on the internet and we can only thank Alexander, Jane, Anna, Max, Paul and Dmitry for having succeeded in this bet a little crazy...
