After the wonderful concert at the 'Royal Albert Hall' (see here< / a>) and 3 years after the recording studio 'Fire On The Floor' (see here), 'Beth Hart' released at the end of September a new album 'War In My Mind'. We find this great lady of the blues with 12 new titles all as intense as each other, in all styles that she masters perfectly. First of all, with this overflowing energy that characterizes her, 'Bad Woman Blues' starts the album in a blues/rock atmosphere and then, with 'War in my Mind', it's the other facet of this sincere and tortured artist who offers us a first moment of a rare intensity. And, although some titles are filled with boundless energy like 'Sugar Shack' and its rock'n'roll vibe or the 'Spanish Lullabies' dance or 'Try A little Harder' with jazz/rock sounds, this is the most intimate side which is put forward with titles all of which emit a palpable and deep emotion : how can one remain indifferent to 'Without Words In The Way' and its melancholy atmosphere or 'Let It Grow' and its intense crescendo with magnificent choruses or the very intimate piano/voice 'Sister Dear' where she shares her grief over the loss of her sister or the heart-wrenching 'Rub Me For Luck' that gives you goosebumps throughout the title, the last 2 titles 'Thankful' and 'I Need a Hero' finishing the album in this same emotional intensity. In short, needless to add, with 'War In My Mind', 'Beth hart' has yet taken a step by offering us an even more personal work and going far beyond a simple music album because it's quite naturally the story of her life with all the wounds and joys that she has been through all these years: simply beautiful and upsetting...
