At the dawn of 2020, 2019 was full of live, so here is the list of myprogmusic chronicles of live in styles very different from each other, ranging from folk to metal through to progressive rock. To this first list, for a fortnight, will be added other live released in 2019 but which had not yet been the subject of chronicle.

We know the many live shows of 'Deep Purple' including the 2 essentials 'Made In Japan' from 1972 (see here) and the 'Made In Europe' of 1976 (see here) and 2019 saw the release 2 new live shows, one dating from 2001 in Newcastle and the other dating from 2013 in Rome which are globally very complementary because apart from a few common titles, each concert has its own set list. For my part, I would have a preference for that of 2001 because we find more the spontaneity of the 70s with this long title mixing 'Speed King' and 'Good Times' for 17 minutes of unleashed hard-rock and this final sequence which returns to 'Speed King' in a masterful way (between 14 and 15 minutes) and what about the introduction of 'Smoke on the Water' with a little bit of 'Black in Black' from our favorite Kangaroos (magnificent 'Steve Morse'! !). In summary, we still never tire of these live performances by this legendary group which, even after all the line-up changes it has known, continues to perpetuate authentic and effective hard-rock from the 70s...
