After 'Uprise' in 2016 (see here), the Dutch of 'Nemesea' did not take long to find a new singer after the departure of 'Manda Ophuis' and it's so with 'Sanne Mieloo' that they released this new opus 'White Flag' which is their 5th album since 2004 and in which they continue in the way they had traced in the previous album and, although they still have this symphonic metal label, their style is more like powerful rock with a modern sound where the electronic sounds appear here and there. The 14 titles are quite short between 3 and 4 minutes and share a fairly balanced between energy and serenity. Starting from 'The Storm', we have a small sample of this style that alternates couplets in the restraint and a chorus that explodes in an electric and powerful and 'Kids with Guns' with its beautiful children's choirs and 'White Flag' with its rhythmic similar to 'U2' continue in this way. In this atmosphere between tension and relaxation, we can note the magnificent mid-tempo 'Ratata' and its haunting rhythm and 'Rise' with its striking contrast between calm and energy. Calmer songs diversify the album starting with 'Sarah' who brings a first break, then 'Lions', 'Heavyweight Champion' or 'Let This Be All' with slow tempos offer us nice moments of sweetness. In summary, with this new album turned to a more modern rock sound where keyboards are very present, 'Nemesea' return to the front of the stage with a new singer who has all the vocal qualities for this evolution of style and 'White Flag 'should please a public loving an energic and powerful rock embellished with moments much calmer...
