'WET' are the initials of the respective groups of the 3 artists who are at the origin of this formation: Robert Säll (the "W" of WORK OF ART), Erik Mårtensson (the "E" of ECLIPSE) and Jeff Scott Soto (the "T" of TALISMAN) and "Earthage" is their 3rd studio album. In addition, they are involved in many other projects such as, among others, Jeff who participated in the last metal opera of the French 'Pierre Le Pape' (see Here), Erik who just released a new album with his band 'Ammunition' (see Here) and Robert who produced the latest 'FM' (chronic to come). So, does quantity rhyme with quality ? As soon as you listen to the first track, 'Watch the Fire', you are reassured because it starts with a full of energy typical of an AOR title with a catchy chorus that stays in your head for a whole day. 'Burn' and 'Kings on Thunder Road' continue in this register with always this talent for effective melodies. Short break with a first ballad 'Elegantly Wasted' then it starts again with the following 3 tracks and again a welcome break with the classic but no less beautiful 2nd ballad 'Heart is on the Line' before ending with 3 titles the same level as the whole. In short, even if they do not revolutionize the genre, 'W.E.T.' show once more that the Nordic countries have something extra to offer us high-quality melodic hard-rock albums that are to be consumed without moderation... | |
