I had discovered 'Outlasted' with their first album 'IntoThe Night' in 2016 (see here) and the Norwegians had already made a strong impression for their first album. 2019 sees the release of 'Waiting for Daybreak' which confirms the potential of this young group. They offer us 10 tracks of melodic rock taking us back to the 80s and accessible from the first listen. 'All Because Of You' opens the album with all the ingredients of the AOR, an unstoppable chorus, well-proportioned guitar riffs and ubiquitous choruses, then 'Time Mends A Broken Heart' takes us back some decades with keyboards that remind me of 'Foreigner' (see their last live with orchestra here) and 'She's the One' continues in this effective melodic bath. Until 'Jane's Got a Lover,' which is the last energetic title with its catchy rhythm, everything is done to have a good time but the ballads are not forgotten with 'Lighthouse' which brings us back to groups like 'Foreigner' and who is a model of the genre then the album ends on the melancholy 'After All These Years', to make envious for the tenors of melodic rock. In summary, the Norwegians of 'Outlasted' confirm all the good that I was thought at the release of the first album and' Waiting for Daybreak' which is intended for a general public, would certainly have been at the top of the ranking in the golden years of AOR...
