It's been over 10 years since the Slovaks from 'Signum Regis' released their first eponymous album (see here) and, after ‘Decennium Primum’ in 2017 (see here), the end of 2019 saw the release of their 6th album 'The Seal of a New World'. They evolve in a melodic power metal full of energy to which they add a pinch of progressive.
'Kings of the Underground' starts the album in a surge of power with a rhythm close to'Rhapsody' and a first refrain that enters in your head immediately, then, 'Prisoner's Elegy' continues in this heavy flow but in a tempo less sustained and 'I Always Go All-In' follows suit for an equally energetic composition which includes a remarkable instrumental section in the second part including a magnificent guitar solo. The following appears more varied with, first of all, 'The City of God' which allows you to recover from your emotions with an alternation between power and calm and which still has a refrain which never leaves you, then, 'The Seal of the New World', while remaining heavy, has a nice progressive construction, and 'A Memory' is a title which, even if it keeps a good energy, moves away from metal and still offers us a heady melody and, about 'Phantasmagoria', it continues to distill us a good melodic metal with more present keyboards which allow us to bring a classic component to the whole. The end of the album does not weaken and continues to scroll through compositions all as effective as each other with accessible melodies that never leave you like the refrains from 'Let Freedom Ring', 'Never Surrender' or 'Fly Away'. Also, we can note that the Slovaks also know how to offer us quieter moments with the magnificent power ballad 'Shalom' which would largely have its place in the most beautiful metal ballads.

In summary, the Slovaks of 'Signum Regis' sign a remarkable and very varied album with a talent for effective melodies and 'The Seal of a New World' should appeal to all those who love a powerful power metal and melodic...
