'Spiral Skies' is a Swedish band that released an EP in 2015 and 'Blues for a Dying Planet' is their first studio album. Their style is quite special and is a mix of doom and hard-rock with a sound of the 70s (which recalls the first albums of 'Status Quo') in fairly short titles. After a dark introduction where the organ reinforces the worrisome side, 'Awakening' is an energetic and catchy title with guitar sounds close to 'Uriah Heep'. 'Dark Side of the Cross' continues in this direction and 'Frida Eurenius' shows all her singing talent. The rhythm calms down with 'The Wizard's Ball', which rolls out its throbbing mid-tempo with an original mix of heavy sounds of riffs and the Frida’s powerful vocal. The sequel continues to mix hard-rock 60/70, psychedelic and doom metal metal. In summary, with 'Blues for a Dying Planet', the Swedes' of 'Spiral Skies' embarks us for a journey back in time, at the time when appeared the hard-rock with the first saturated guitars...
