After a separation in 2008 and a decade of existence, 2017 saw the rebirth of the French band of 'Matmatah' with a new album 'Plates Coutures'. I only knew this group by 'Lambé An Dro' and the album 'Antaology' released in 2015 is a good way to get an idea of 'Matmatah' because it contains 40 titles of the first period. With 'Plates Coutures', they come back completely bolstered and there is a major evolution in lyrics with much stronger messages relating some of the contemporary recurring themes using provocation to better encourage revolt; 'Here we are' is the perfect example with the definitive sentence, 'And now our host enters the terminal phase' which can only react and launch an awareness so that precisely 'We are not yet', the final message being that everyone has the capacities to be the actor of his destiny. At the musical level, the compositions serve the lyrics and benefit from an exceptional production. In short 'Plates Coutures' is a very strong album that brings the group out of its comfort zone for our greatest pleasure and which makes it one of the major groups of the French rock scene...
