'Nektar' is a German progressive rock band that has already gone through several periods with first 8 albums between the years 1971 and 1980, when the band broke up for the first time to be relaunched by its guitarist and founding member 'Roye Albrighton' in 1999, to release 3 albums between 2002 and 2008, lots of live albums and some remasterizations of their old albums. Unfortunately, in 2016, 'Roye Albrighton' dies as a result of his long illness which will end the group. And yet, the end of the year 2018 saw the release of 'Megalomania' as the band 'New Nektar' relaunched a second time by the keyboardist 'Klaus Henatsch who had joined the group during the second period. The result is obviously in the continuity of the progressive rock inherited from the 70s with long titles integrating several parts as the first two titles' Bad Angel 'and' Megalomania 'but the second part of the album starting with the short acoustic 'Intermezzo I', moves away from the progressive with more classical and accessible compositions but which have very beautiful melodic lines like 'Where Do We Go To' or 'Smiling Face' that we can situate between pop and rock and which can remember artists like 'Barclay James Harvest'. In summary, this new album of 'Nektar' is a good surprise for all fans of the group and allows to relaunch them especially since 'Megalomania' mixes progressive and more classic rock that should appeal to a wide enough public lovers of the great 70s rock bands...
