Sometimes, there are albums that go beyond the music because they are loaded with emotion and nostalgia related to your past and for me, this 'Moonchild' is put at the top of the pile. Initially, it was a project of 'Greg Lake' with the goal of revisiting legendary titles of his 2 different bands, 'King Crimson' and 'Emerson Lake & Palmer', and Greg had to sing the various titles (you can hear him on the live 'Live in Piacenza' released in late 2017 - see here). Fate and illness decided otherwise and he asked his friend and singer 'Annie Barbazza' to take his place. All these titles take a particular turn because on the one hand, it is a wonderful tribute to the talented artist that has been 'Greg Lake' throughout his career and on the other hand, the reinterpretation of all these compositions in a very refined way to get the most out of the 'substantive marrow' further increases the emotion that provides the listening to this album. But the best people to talk about it is Greg who in 2016, a little before his death, said : «Annie and Max have recorded a tribute so wonderful and touching to the music I made during my lifetime. Max's arrangements are absolutely superb! What a magical touch he has and Annie's voice is at once beautiful, courageous and sincere. It's a very moving experience for me to hear them play these songs with so much passion ». In conclusion, what else can I say, except to press on the play button and simply enjoy the talent of these 2 artists who have done a wonderful tribute to this endearing artist who was 'Greg Lake'...
